Hawaiian Home for Star Gazers
Alongside Kukio's ornamental golf course, looking out to Uluweoweo Bay, this 10,500 sq. ft. home is stretched across two lots allowing views from all major living areas. The home is designed in a gracious tropical character inspired from both Hawaiian and Balinese architecture with the site, landscape and buildings designed as one seamless environment.
Stone landscape walls are a significant architectural element that give the gardens a formality and create outdoor "rooms". These walls work together with the entry lagoon and a pool wrapping a large shade pavilion that creates a living environment within the cooling
presence of water.
A retractable roof over a small pavilion provides a roof top observatory for the owner's telescope for viewing Hawaii's clear night skies.
The home is designed as a grouping of pavilions. Finish materials include a copper shingle roof, colored plaster walls, limestone floors
and details, teak doors and windows, yellow cedar timbers.
