Kuki‘o Golf Club
North Kona, Hawai‘i
Hired in 2005 by Discovery Land Company, de Reus Architects was asked to create a golf club that would provide the sense of presence and luxury commensurate with their highly successful Kuki‘o Beach Club on the North Kona Coast.
Located within the Tom Fazio designed course on the slope of the active Hualalai volcano, this 13,300 square foot golf club captures rare panoramic views. Extending the Pacific Rim vernacular created for the Beach Club, this facility consists of four separate pavilions housing a pro shop and retail, a dining pavilion and men's and women's locker rooms, as well as an event lawn and underground cart storage. The design incorporates rustic elegant materials such as thatch roofing, exposed timber framed ceilings, African mahogany hardwood, lava stone walls, and limestone floors.
Construction of the Kuki‘o Golf Club began in December 2005 and was completed on-budget and ahead of schedule in November 2007. de Reus Architects was awarded the 2008 Award of Excellence by AIA Honolulu for this project.
