Pu‘u Wai

Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, Hawai‘i
In 2002, Mark de Reus was hired by one of Honolulu's premier developers, Duncan MacNaughton, to design unique and genuine examples of refined but casual beach homes for his three coastal lots below Diamond Head. With an almost rural setting just off Waikiki Beach, the concept for these bungalows is one of sophisticated Kama‘aina character. The architecture and gardens were created as one environment for tropical living at its best.

Approximately 6,200 square footage each, these four bedroom two-story homes include direct views of the ocean and surf breaks, pool and spa, a poolside entertainment pavilion, shade pavilion, private gardens and lawn, two car garages and parking, and private entrance off Diamond Head Road into a common area autocourt.

The exterior finishes are cedar roof shingles, stained cedar board and batten wood siding and integral color plaster lower walls. The interiors consist of limestone floors, Ipe decking, bamboo flooring, and Afromosia interior wood trim.
